Join the third IGIS'24 seminar: Web 3 Technologies

We are pleased to announce the Third Seminar «Intelligent GIS for Marine Situation Monitoring 2024. Web 3 Technologies», which will take place on 26 March 2024 at: Saint Petersburg, Truda St., 8.

We invite specialists, researchers and industry representatives to take part in the seminar and contribute to the development of intelligent GIS and Web 3 technologies.

Our seminar will provide a unique opportunity for networking and direct familiarization with the latest developments in these research areas. Participation of students, master’s and doctoral students is welcome.

The seminar topics will focus on theoretical and technological foundations of artificial intelligence applied in applied GIS domains such as navigation, marine object monitoring systems, underwater acoustics, marine radar, marine energy, logistics, environmental management, maritime safety and others.

The goal of the seminar is to discuss current issues related to the emergence of a new generation of the Internet based on Web 3 technologies. The Web 3 idea was first formulated by computer scientist Gavin Wood. The main idea is to create a new, decentralized Internet based on blockchain technology, which distinguishes it from the existing Web 2.

Web 3 will have a strong impact on technologies related to our company’s activities, such as:

  • Autonomous navigation: vehicles will be able to move autonomously without human involvement, reducing financial costs and the risk of accidents by eliminating human-factor errors.
  • Indoor positioning: providing navigation capability inside buildings and other enclosed spaces.
  • 3D navigation: provides a more accurate representation of the environment, taking into account altitude changes and other parameters.
  • Navigation without GNSS: provides accurate and reliable navigation in areas with weak or unavailable GNSS signal.
  • Remote environmental sensing.
  • DAS (Direct Attached Systems) technologies: real-time environmental data collection, combining information from various sources for a comprehensive view of the environment. Some of these technologies are already implemented in the Aqueduct system.
  • Cloud navigation: using data stored in the cloud to provide navigation, including satellite imagery, traffic data and weather information.
  • Synthesized vision and voice navigation: simplifying control and monitoring of sailing conditions by freeing the operator from numerous manipulations on various instruments.
  • Autonomous devices with a Web interface: tablets, smartphones, smart watches and smart glasses providing users with convenient and accessible navigation.

We hope that the IGIS’24-3 seminar will become a platform for active exchange of knowledge and experience, and will promote innovation in marine situation monitoring using intelligent GIS and Web 3 technologies.

The following participation options are available:

  • Scientific papers: papers will be reviewed by at least three members of the scientific committee (up to 14 pages). All accepted presentations will be published electronically on the website after the seminar;
  • Short presentations and poster presentations: reviews of practical experience, project reports (up to 5 pages).

The decision to accept a presentation is made by the program committee based on received reviews (at least three). Evaluation criteria are developed by the program committee and comply with international practice.
